Final Magazine Construction Update
Since my updates of the constructions of the pages in my magazine , I made my final developments in order to complete my magazine.
- Font: I changed the font from FRANKLIN GOTHIC HEAVY and FREESTYLE SCRIPT, to AGENCY FB and IMPACT. This was because these fonts allowed more text onto the page. They created the professional look I was aiming to achieve, also it was easier to maintain a specific layout with these texts. This is evident with all the other pages in my music magazine, as these fonts are consistently used.
- Image: I brightened the image a bit more so that the text and main model stands out more, in order for my music magazine to look more appealing to the targeted audience.
- Change to Colour Scheme: I changed the white to black in my colour scheme, this didn't change a lot on my page in terms of content but it made the cover lines stand out more on the page.
- Layout: With comparison to my 2nd development stage, I have made multiple changes to the layout of the front page.Firstly I have included a skyline to my magazine because this is one of the usual conventions for an Urban Magazine. I then spreaded out the cover lines around the page so that all available space is being used up. I decided to put the masthead behind my main model so the audience is able to see her face clearly and have the ability to recognise who she may be. I moved the pull quote from the lower right to closer to her. This was to facilitate easier recognition of the main model artist. Thirdly I moved the price layout to where the issue number and date is, this was to create the look I was aiming and it was more necessary to have it at the same area of the issue number because consumers will more likely expect it to be there. Lastly I included the website of the magazine "www.clefmag.co.uk" this allows the readers to access my magazines website and retrieve more information.
CONSTRUCTION 2: Contents Page
- Images: I have assigned a specific layout and size of the images so that they don't take up space, look organised and relate to the theme of my magazine. I removed one image and replaced it with another because the background of the image didn't match well with the theme.
- Editors note: I added the editors note on the contents page instead of it being on page 4 so that it can fill up the empty spaces that was on the contents page that couldn't be filled up with either images or more regulars/features.
- Layout: I changed the layout of the features column moving it from the left to the right so it doesn't clash with the images I have taken. I moved the cover story box to above the features column to attract more attention to the reader and also the box was cutting into the my models leg and made it look unorganised. I added the masthead onto my contents page just to maintain a common house style in my magazine. I bolded the title of the page so that the readers are able to identify what page they are on.
- Content of features:I added more features so that it can take up the empty spaces under it.
CONSTRUCTION 3: Double Page Spread
- Images: I made the image on the left larger to make this page look more like a music magazine interview article instead of a normal lifestyle magazine. The placement of the images are completely different to the house style I made a month ago, this is because my house style was a guided draft and was due to change during the production of my magazine.
- Quote: I moved the arrangement of my quote and placed it in the middle of the text, with the text colour orange. This is to attract attention onto the page, encourage the targeted audience to read on to find out what the exclusive interview contains.
- Layout: From the construction update I assigned a specific layout of the text. Instead of the text being all over the page, I split them up into 3 different columns. In the first 3 columns to make the reading and understanding of the article easier for my target audience. By changing the layout, it created a more professional look for my magazine, making my magazine fit for its purpose and genre.
- Additional DPS: I created an additional double page spread as an intro to the main cover story. This page includes a brief biography of the artist, enabling people who don't know her to gain some information about her. I used another image of the main model from the photo shoot that I done back in November.

Magazine Construction 3 Update
This is the updated version of my music magazine
Software: ADOBE InDesign
- I changed the title of my double page spread from a quote to a brief statement of what the content the magazine has.
- I moved the quote to the bottom of the page to maintain a sophisticated layout of my dps.
- As you can see I have now completed the text which was on Microsoft Word and have copied and pasted it on the page.
- I have not yet assigned a layout, but this is the next development that I would need to do in completion of this page.
- I am still using my house style to replicate the same style that I planned.
- I removed the grey background for the mean time so that I am able to focus on the arrangement of the page a lot more than the background.
More developments to be done.

Magazine Construction 3
This is the incomplete version of double page spread.
I have started the construction of my double page spread.
At the moment I have only placed my images onto the page and the title of the page.
I have chosen to make the the title a rhetorical question so that the readers think about the title and are more persuaded to read on.
I have not yet assigned a permanent layout to this page, but I will like to maintain the planned layout that I made in my magazine house style, which was posted on my blog in November. Also seeing as I am still drafting out the text I am going to put on the page using Microsoft Word, I felt it was best not to include a layout until I am finished with the text.
Once again I am using InDesign to make my DPS as this software contains the suitable tools needed for this task.

Magazine Construction 2 Update
This is the updated version of my music magazine.
Software: ADOBE InDesign
From the first construction of my contents page:
Software: ADOBE InDesign
From the first construction of my contents page:
- I have assigned a specific layout for my contents page. This is different from the house style plan I created before starting this task. This change was to enable every bit of information and images I wanted on my contents page to be able to fit, be visible and not make it look to crowded or disorganised.
- Additionally I once again changed the colour scheme from white, orange and blue to black, orange and blue. This is the last change I will make to the colour scheme, as too much change will cause a disturbance to my construction. This was because the white contrasted with the backdrop of the shoot and the clothes my main model was wearing, and black stands out a lot more than white so it is easier to be seen by my targeted audience.
Furthermore;
- I changed the font of the title of this page from FRANKLIN GOTHIC HEAVY to AGENCY FB. I have done this because the previous font was too big and made my magazine look displaced from the type of style I was aiming to achieve. This change will make a difference to my whole magazine because I will be using the same font for the whole magazine.
- The page numbers are all in orange, bolded and font size 24 so they stand out more and readers can see what page they will need to go on to read the exclusive story.
- The sub-headings "FEATURES & REGULARS" are in blue to go with the chosen colour scheme.
- I added a white box around the cover story content because it is the first thing I want my readers to see first. Also the sub-heading "COVER STORY" is in orange and the page number is in blue which differs from all the other sub-headings so it catches attention of the reader first.
More changes pending.
